yeah Conquest is not really mod friendly, I know of one mod on moddb it is called Conquest forever.

It is a shame though the sequel (Vyrium Uprising) never got published, I have a demo somewhere. The cool thing I remember of that demo was that they did not try to re-invent the game, they expanded on it, so bigger maps, more detail etc etc.

Yeah, i tried that demo myself, i remember that shockwave animation they made, when the Vyrium "planetkiller" ship fired at the planet, that was mint. It was one of biggest gaming related disappointments for me, that it never got released.

Haha it seems we share the same interest in gameplay features. I loved how the animation of the blast shockwave roamed the whole planet. Remember that.
