Hey, I'm glad you are interested in our game.
The game has all military classes of ships in each faction which means destroyers, cruisers, frigates of few types, carriers, massive ships, including special ability long range cannons, shield generators, planetary defense cannons etc.
We decided to not implement Z axis because the game has a more faster tactical pace then Homeworld, in Homeworld you would concentrate on one major ship in a single system, in our game you play across several systems controlling few solar systems in same time in real time. It plays different then other games.
We could always add Z axis if we wanted, in future who knows. Everything is possible
