Survival Mode idea

Survival Mode idea

In this mode you'd have a certain amount of money to buy an army (all tech unlocked).
Your army would then be deployed to a random map where you would be attacked by successively harder waves of enemies (any factions not just player usable ones.)
At the end of each wave you'd earn money and experience for surviving units. (to be used later)
When all units are dead the game ends (keeping track of how many waves you survived).
The unit experience and money persists for your army though so you level up your units with the experience they earned and use the earned money to upgrade units gear or even buy completely new units between plays.

This is a great idea.
So after surviving a number of waves in a random map, would the player be able to spend the earned money on buying reinforcements before starting on a new (harder) random map or would his army continually grow smaller until defeat?

To keep the game moving you don't do things between waves, the map doesn't even need to change.
Example:

You get $100k and build an army (maybe you can even pick one from your Skirmish army list). All the units have 0xp.

You start Survival mode and it picks a random map for that whole game.
Your army is spawned somewhere on the map and the first wave starts immediately (player can "bullet time" to position their forces)
The waves come in from the map edges or drop points or something and you fight.
During the first wave Squad A dies but Squad B, C, and D survive.
So you earn a little bit of money for Squad B, C, and D and they each earn some xp (not A though since they died)
Wave 2 comes within seconds of the last wave 1 enemies death. (again you can "bullet time" to adjust your remaining squads)
In wave 2 you lose Squad B but win again. Now you get a little more money and experience for Squads C and D.
In wave 3 your remaining units are killed.

That session is over but you've earned money for surviving wave 1 and 2 and squad B got one wave of xp while squad C and D got two waves of xp. So now you level up any units you can and use your money to upgrade your squads gear or even buy new squads then you go back in and try to get farther next time.

Your second attempt with is upgraded army now has Squad A with improved armor so maybe they won't die so fast, Squad C and D got some new skills through leveling up, and you managed to get enough money to buy a Squad E. This time you get a different map but you make it all the way to wave 7! You take your winnings, upgrade your army, and try again.

The game could keep track of how far your armies have made it with how much money on a leader board type thing.

We had no plans for anything like this, but the idea is really good.
Each time the player earns more xp, and is able to upgrade his troops or even buy more of them, thus surviving more waves.
Until reaching the harcore waves where the enemies keep coming. Sounds good and fun, and it's definitely something that we'll do :)

Having a medic type unit would be very helpful in this mode ;)
